All warrantees offered by the Aqua-Dome are given, at the store’s expense, to aid both beginner and advanced hobbyists in acquiring a healthy stock of aquarium inhabitants. In this exciting hobby, unexpected losses do occur. In many cases, the fish that we sell have just made long trips to be available for our customers. For the few fish that succumb prematurely to the stress of this transport, we will refund your money. However, it is not our responsibility to pay for fish that have been killed by introduction into unsatisfactory aquarium conditions. If your tank is brand new or if you are unsure about proper aquarium parameters, please ask- we are here to help. FRESHWATER FISH: All freshwater fish, shrimp, crawfish, snails, aquatic frogs, plants, pond fish, and pond plants are guaranteed to be healthy and live for one week. A receipt and the body of the fish are required for refund or replacement. To help us identify the cause of the problem, we encourage you bring a water sample (no animals can be packaged with the water to be tested). We can then decide if it is safe to attempt the fish again. Aggression by other fish (indicated by damage to the body or fins) or random occurrences including jumping out of the tank and cat attacks are not covered. Freshwater fish are typically quite hardy and we will never sell a fish that we suspect to be unhealthy or diseased. For club members, this guarantee is extended to two weeks. SALTWATER FISH: No marine fish (vertebrates) are guaranteed except to our club members, who will receive a one week, 50% back guarantee. Because of the delicate nature of marine fishes, few retailers are willing to offer this kind of assurance. Saltwater fish are often quite territorial, and discussing your current tank setup and inhabitants with us will help you in choosing a compatible addition. If a newly purchased saltwater fish dies, despite being placed in an appropriate and cycled tank, we will issue a store credit upon presentation of body, receipt, and water sample to be tested. As with freshwater fish, the water sample must be packaged separately from the body of the fish to prevent fouling of the water and erroneous readings. Also, it is the aquarist’s responsibility to use a proper lid when attempting to keep fishes prone to jumping such as the gobies and wrasses. SALTWATER INVERTEBRATES: Keeping marine invertebrates has been described by many as a science and an art that requires talent, knowledge, and a certain degree of luck. Motile invertebrates like shrimps, crabs, sea stars, urchins, snails, anemones, etc. often need to be carefully acclimated when moved from tank to tank. Even with great attention, these creatures remain too unpredictable for us to cover with a warranty. Reading or asking about the requirements of each of these animals is the first step towards success in their husbandry. Sessile invertebrates, mainly the corals, are also not guaranteed, but for a different reason. Corals, unlike fish or shrimp, never die unexpectedly. In the right conditions, even the unhealthiest looking coral can regain its original beauty. The corals we sell in our store have been carefully adjusted to aquarium life and are maintained under stringent water quality conditions and feeding methods, with proper circulation and high output lighting. Aquarists attempting to keep delicate reef creatures are encouraged to read and seek the advice of local stores, clubs, and online communities.
